Since 2007 Dogs In Danger Rescue, Inc./East Coast Adoption Agency (no kill) has been saving thousands of mixed breed dogs in southern kill shelters and housing them in northern states in hopes to be adopted. These dogs have proven themselves to be wonderful companion animals, and we would love to save more from deaths door. Overpopulated shelters in the south that we work with have to euthanize 8/10 dogs that come through their door due to lack of kennel space. Unfortunately, we can’t take too many adult dogs at this time due to lack of foster homes.
We figured out a way to solve this by building a small facility this year, that would house up to 10 adult dogs at a time. Potentially, we could save 520 adult dogs each year compared to about 25 now. This project will be a comfortable environment for the homeless dogs, including indoor and outdoor runs, heat, and an adoption room. It will be located in Smyrna, NY.
